Annual International
Locks Conference
Natural Hair, Wholistic Health & Beauty Expo
2011 Schedule of Activities -

Remember, The Annual International Locks Conference: Natural Hair, Wholistic Health, and Beauty Expo
is  bigger than an Afro. It is widely known as a wholesome, visitor-friendly family event.  Given the conditions
facing not only our people here in Philadelphia but humanity,  it is vital that we continue to communicate face
to face  and to keep our hearts and minds open.

Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that “To be free, do something for self.”

Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey told us to remember, “Chance has never yet satisfied the hope of
a suffering people.  Action, self-reliance, the vision of self, and the future have been the only means by
which the oppressed have seen and realized the light of their own freedom.”

Malcolm X fiercely reminded us all that, “You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be
at peace unless  he/she has his/her freedom.”

Even though Fannie Lou Hamer said she was "Sick and tired of being sick and tired, she als advised us that
  "Nobody's free until everybody's free."

The Tradition Continues!

Harriet Tubman, said, "I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were enslaved."  She also said, "I grew up like a neglected weed - ignorant of liberty, having no experience of it."
A reminder to us all, the following statement reflects how and why Harriet Tubman spoke and lived her live,  she said, "I had reasoned this out in my mind, there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death;
if I could not have one, I would have the other."

Assata Shakur  "Part of being a revolutionary is creating a vision that is more humane. That is more fun, too. That is more loving. It's really working to create something beautiful."
